O Saving Victim

During exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
O Saving Victim op’ning wide
The gate of heav’n to man below.
Our foes press on from ev’ry side;
Thy strength supply, Thine aid bestow.

All praise and thanks to Thee ascend
For evermore, blest Three in One,
O grant us life that shall not end,
In our true native land with thee. Amen.

Reading from Holy Scripture

The priest reads a passage from Holy Scripture and then everyone adores the Blessed Sacrament for a while in silent prayer.

Prayer for Christian Unity

After the time spent in adoration the priest reads the following prayer.
Lord Jesus Christ, at your Last Supper you prayed to the Father that all should be one. Send your Holy Spirit upon all who bear your name and seek to serve you. Strengthen our faith in you and make us love one another in humility. May we who have been reborn in one baptism all be united in one faith under one Shepherd.
   R. Amen.

Hymn of Adoration
Down in adoration falling,
this great Sacrament we hail;
ancient types have long departed;
newer rites of grace prevail,
faith for all defects supplying,
where the feeble senses fail.

Glory let us give and blessing
to the Father and the Son,
honour, might and praise addressing,
While eternal ages run;
equal praise to Him confessing
who proceeds from Both as One. Amen.

V. You have given them bread from heaven (P.T. Alleluia).
R. Having in itself all delight (P.T. Alleluia).

Let us pray:
O God, in this wonderful Sacrament, You left us a memorial of your Passion; may we so reverence the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood, that we may always be conscious of the effects of your Redemption within us. Who live and reign for ever and ever.

Psalm of Thanksgiving (Ps. 116)

The priest takes the Blessed Sacrament back to the Tabernacle.

Now praise the Lord, O all you nations;

acclaim his glory all you peoples.

For of His mercy towards us,

He has given us fresh and mighty proofs.

The Lord’s fidelity endures eternally.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning

is now and ever shall be,

World without end. Amen.

Marian Antiphon (Optional)

After the priest has reposed the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle,  a final Antiphon to Mary may be sung.

(During Ordinary Time)

Salve, Regina,  Mater misericordiæ,
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevæ
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
 
Eia, ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte;

nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
